I am from Caloto Cauca, a small town considered a red zone in Colombia. Still, music has shown me a different reality from the unpeaceful one I was often offered and has broadened my borders and those of my entire family. That is why it has always been one of my goals to get involved in and create music projects that benefit and support vibrant cultural communities going through rough times.

Music, education, and support have the power to enlighten and steer individuals towards a brighter path in life. That's why I am a firm believer that everyone deserves access to quality education and guidance, regardless of their circumstances. Growing up amidst the violence of Colombian army and insurgent group shootings in my hometown left a lasting impact on me, and it motivated me to start a project in 2016 called "Soplan Vientos de Paz" (Winds of Peace are Blowing). This project aimed to provide children in Caloto and surrounding areas with clarinet lessons and a positive, educational experience. Despite the dangerous conditions in the region, the children there are full of life and spirit, and I am grateful to have been able to work with a diverse group of Indigenous, Afro-Colombians, and mestizo children through my project. In the summer of 2018, I expanded my work by traveling to Leticia Amazonas, a remote and isolated region in southern Colombia accessible only by plane or boat. I collaborated with students from nearby Brazilian villages and clarinetists ranging from 8 to 78 years old. Through these experiences, I learned that regardless of age, we all face similar challenges if left unaddressed. Age doesn't diminish nervousness or the feeling of unwelcomeness. Still, as an educator, it's my role to create a welcoming environment and motivate individuals to perform to the best of their ability.

I have also worked with music schools in other towns across Cauca, in addition to Caloto, and in 2022, I conducted pedagogy and performance workshops for the clarinet studio at the Universidad del Cauca.
